OUTLINE
Mercari is a marketplace where people buy and sell items related to their favorite idols across the ages, and to provide an experience where people can discover their favorite things, we held the "Super Oshikatsu Exhibition" on the first floor of SHIBUYA TSUTAYA, where people could experience the Oshi culture of the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras through approximately 1,000 items that can be found on Mercari.

DETAIL & EXPERIENCE
At the venue, the form of "oshikatsu" that has changed along with the history of entertainment was displayed in the form of a chronology, centered on Japanese "idols" and "manga, anime, and games." The space was planned and produced to allow visitors to look back on the history of the period, starting with the Showa era, when a fan culture known as the "Imperial Guard" was born, to the Heisei era, when otaku culture rapidly expanded, with events such as the "Anime Bubble" and the "Idol Warring States Period," and up to the Reiwa era, when "oshikatsu" became commonplace.
We also encouraged people to share their photos on social media through experiential content such as a magazine browsing corner where visitors could enjoy the evolution of idols, a demo station for nostalgic games that gave birth to many popular characters, and a photo space where visitors could take photos dressed as "Imperial Guards" or "Otaku," symbols of the era.

RESULT
Despite being a limited-time event lasting only four days, the event attracted a record attendance of approximately 17,000 people. Comments such as "I was reunited with the first record I ever bought" and "My favorite idol was being celebrated at a birthday celebration without him being there!" were posted, and the event was well-received by people of all ages, from those currently enjoying "oshikatsu" (supporting their favorite idols) to those who reminisced about their past "oshi." The event also generated approximately 13,000 shares and spread on social media, with comments such as "An exhibition that pays respect to all favorite idols."
